How I can help

When life changes, you may not recognize yourself anymore. Sometimes life changes gradually. Other times, it changes in an instant. A diagnosis. A separation or divorce. The end of a relationship. Job loss. A loss you weren’t prepared for. An experience that left you feeling shaken or unsafe. You may be struggling with anxiety, racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, loneliness, numbness, or a sense that you simply don’t know what comes next. Perhaps you are experiencing flashbacks or nightmares, or finding that your mind and body are responding to something that happened in the past. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to navigate this new chapter alone. I also work with clients struggling with an eating disorder and/or body image challenges.

Depending on your needs and goals, I draw from a range of approaches, including EMDR, somatic therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe therapy should be individualized rather than one-size-fits-all. After we identify what you would like to work on, we will develop a personalized approach that feels constructive, meaningful, and appropriate for you.

With 20 years of experience in hospital and community-based settings, I bring a broad clinical perspective to my work. I practice from an anti-oppressive and client-centred perspective, recognizing that your experiences are shaped by your relationships, circumstances, culture, and the world around you.

Most importantly, you are the expert in your own experience. My role is not to tell you who you should be or how you should feel. It is to walk alongside you, help you understand what you’re experiencing, and support you in finding your way forward.

Experience

Jackie is a Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist and a Carleton University graduate with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Over the past twenty years, she has worked in both hospital and community based settings. Jackie has worked in Bariatrics, Women & Childrens Program, Eating Disorder Program and Mental Health & Addictions.

She also volunteers at the Centre for Grief & Healing co-facilitating group sessions.

More than just my work

I enjoy sewing and crochet. When I have time I also bake and do some pottery. Getting lost in a crafty hobby is one of the best mindfulness practices.

I love pilates and spin classes.
